Coming Home: HostBilby Launches in Toronto at Canada's Largest Colocation Facility

World Class Infrastructure at 151 Front Street West

There's something special about launching in your hometown. After establishing HostBilby's presence in Valley Forge, PA and Spokane, WA, we're thrilled to announce our newest expansion: Toronto, Ontario – right in the heart of Canada's tech capital, and our home city.

We've set up shop at Telehouse's 151 Front Street West facility, Canada's largest colocation center Telehouse, and one of the most connected data centers in North America. With access to the Ontario Internet Exchange (ONIX) and a diverse ecosystem of 200+ carriers, we're positioned at the absolute epicenter of Canadian internet connectivity.

This isn't just any datacenter. The facility is cooled using the Deep Lake Water Cooling System, drawing water from Lake Ontario through three intake pipes – making it one of the most environmentally efficient operations in North America. And for those keeping score, the building has a fascinating history: it was constructed in 1954 to house telegraph equipment before being transformed into the modern telecommunications powerhouse it is today.

Introducing Our Ultra VPS Line

Powered by AMD EPYC Rome and Milan processors, our new Ultra VPS lineup brings serious compute power to the Canadian market. We're keeping with our Australian roots – because who says hosting can't be fun? Choose from configurations named after some of Australia's most iconic creatures, each delivering enterprise grade performance with the efficiency AMD EPYC is known for.

New Dedicated Servers backed by Arista Networking

Every dedicated server in our Toronto facility runs on Arista enterprise networking – the same gear trusted by hyperscalers and Fortune 500 companies. No cut corners, no compromises. These are fully owned servers, not leased or rented, giving us complete control over performance, security, and reliability.

We're starting with a full rack of capacity, ready to scale as demand grows. Check out our in stock and ready to deploy Dedicated Servers!

Meet the Tiny Dedis

Here's something we're particularly excited about: Tiny Dedis. These compact, power-efficient mini PCs are perfect for developers, startups, and anyone who needs dedicated hardware without enterprise pricing. Each Tiny Dedi includes:

  • Full KVM access (because you should control your hardware)

  • OS templates for quick deployment

  • The same Arista networking as our larger servers

  • Entry level pricing that makes dedicated hosting accessible

Think of them as your personal server, minus the power bill and datacenter visits.

Why Toronto?

Beyond being our home city, Toronto is one of the top 10 business tech hubs in the world. It's Canada's largest city and the fourth-largest in North America, and over 170 languages are spoken here, with more than 250 ethnicities represented. It's a city that never stops innovating.

Here are some Toronto facts that make this city special:

  • The name "Toronto" comes from the Mohawk word "tkaronto," meaning "the place in the water where the trees are standing" – fitting for a city with over 10 million trees

  • Toronto is home to the first two-way radio and pager, developed by Torontonian Irving "Al" Gross, who also tried to sell Bell on the mobile phone idea in 1950 (they weren't interested – oops!)

  • PATH, Toronto's underground pedestrian system, is the largest in North America, connecting 1,200 stores and 50 office towers across 28 kilometers

  • The city has 301 days of measurable sunshine, and before you ask – yes, even in winter

And here's a quirky one: Toronto's first public washroom was built underground in 1885 in the middle of the street, with a bathroom attendant offering boot cleaning and fresh towels for 5 cents (Thankfully, datacenter amenities have improved since then.)

What's Next?

This is just the beginning for HostBilby in Toronto. We're iterating on new products, experimenting with configurations, and building something we're genuinely proud of. Having a full rack of our own equipment means we can move fast, test new ideas, and respond to what our customers actually need.

Ready to check out what we're building? Head over and explore the Ultra VPS lineup or grab yourself a Tiny Dedi.

Welcome to HostBilby Toronto. We're just getting started.
